This Unique, naturally faceted Herkimer Diamond (Quartz Crytstal) is quite the steal.  Absolutely NO iron and carbon inclusions, a very clear icy & glassy specimen with a key facet that resembles a crystal web, or the Mexican art of the Eye of God hangings. Double terminated (the key is really the part where this crystal cleanly separated from another crystal *see more below). Just under a gram and 7.45mm x 11.7mm.  Herkimer Diamonds formed in the earth nearly 500 million years ago in crystal pockets within ancient dolostone. In a Herkimer Diamond, a key (or key mark) is an indentation on the surface of the crystal characterized by a distinct geometric shape. These marks are typically three- or six-sided and become narrower as they step deeper into the stone. A key mark is a physical record of the crystal's growth history. It occurs when another crystal grows into or against the Herkimer diamond but the two stones do not permanently fuse together. When the interfering crystal is eventually removed or breaks off, it leaves behind a geometric, recessed "footprint" in the host stone.
