These striking snowflake-white, coral-like mineral formations are from the historic mining district of Santa Eulalia in Chihuahua, Mexico. Flos Ferri are latin words meaning "flowers of iron". Which is a bit odd since they don't actually contain iron. Flos Ferri may be labeled commercially as a type of Aragonite, but are actually a fibrous or helictite-habit variety of cave calcite. These specimens from Potosi Mine in Santa Eulalia, grow inside caves associated with silver, lead, zinc, and copper. While the environment is rich in various metals, the delicate, branching flos ferri frostwork itself remains composed of calcium carbonate rather than iron.
White flos ferri is said to emit deep spiritual healing, angelic purity, and unconditional love.
