This "heart" specimen is a remarkable example of a twinned or intergrown cluster. The heart-like shape created by the two massive, side-by-side main crystals makes it a beautiful find.
Brilliant, crisp, saturated internal rainbow fractures near the left termination. While the front showcases two clean, towering points, the reverse side reveals an intricate, contact-rich skeletal structure with key window areas and micro-terminations. The base shows a distinct layer of dark hydrocarbon (anthraxolite) inclusions, along with clean, isolated iron-oxide patches nestled inside the micro-terminations on the back proving its Fonda, NY heritage.
Herkimer Diamonds formed in the earth nearly 500 million years ago in crystal pockets within ancient dolostone. Their unique conditions of formation—low-pressure hydrothermal fluids crystallizing slowly in hollow pockets—allowed for: Natural double terminations (points at both ends), symbolizing energy flow in and out Extraordinary internal clarity, often gem-grade and water-clear rainbow inclusions, carbon inclusions (anthraxolite), enhydros.
